Blog / Beautiful wedding blessing in West Sussex
At the beginning of October I headed off down to West Sussex to photograph Gaby and Graham’s wedding blessing. I’d only been contacted a little while before about getting involved with the special day. Gaby’s brother wanted to get them a photographer as a wedding gift, and through a friend, I was recommended to him (always hugely grateful for any recommendations!) They were all off to Las Vegas that weekend for the actual wedding, so after a brief conversation and a few emails, I was booked!
The morning of the blessing I headed down to Gaby’s parents house in beautiful Arundel. It’s so lovely to be a part of a special day, and to be able to get photos at the family home and to capture lots of details there is always a joy. Gaby had a new dress for the wedding blessing at St Giles Church in Graffham, but also had her Vegas dress to change into later on for the dancing. I loved photographing in the gorgeous house, and the cat was more than happy to pose for me too!
The blessing was beautiful, and even though the church was having a bit of a face lift, it didn’t dampen the beauty of the building and of the stunning surrounding countryside.
The reception was at Duncton Village Hall in Petworth, which was surrounded by beautiful scenery. They were blessed with a gorgeous day too, the joys of October weddings! If only a lot of the summer months had been so nice too!
Graham and Gaby had decorated the hall beautifully, with Vegas hotel names for the tables, pretty bunting and flowers, and lovely personalised napkins and printed luggage labels. And cake, lots of fabulous cake, and sweets too!
The evening meal was genius. A fish and chip van arrived. It was Perfect! Everyone loved heading outside to grab their dinner, and I loved photographing something so different and the light spilling out of the van was lovely and dramatic for photos. It was such good fun!
And by the way, they were the absolutely BEST chips I have EVER had! Thanks so much for letting me have some food, and for welcoming me so warmly into your wonderful special day. xxx
