I was very honored yesterday to be invited along to a fab open day for the wonderful florist Sam at Violets and Velvet, and amazing vintage stylist Kate at vintage style hire.  They share the most wonderful barn, in beautiful Essex countryside.  I was lucky enough to meet Sam at a wonderful wedding fair in Chelmsford in September.  It’s so nice for me to have done a few lovely fairs this year.  It’s obviously amazing to meet couples who may want to book me and start that journey together, but also it’s so lovely to meet other suppliers.  In my whole working life, I’ve never really had “colleagues”.  I think it’s what a lot of people take for granted, and get annoyed by, and get frustrated with!  But I’ve never really had any!  (boo hoo me!)  I shoot for magazines, and go to the shoot on my own.  I process it on my own, and send the photos in.  Maybe I met the picture editor once 3 years previously, we’ll speak occasionally on the phone, and email.  But that’s it!  And until this summer, I hadn’t met any wedding suppliers either.  And I’m finding it so lovely to be slowly but surely meeting some.  And they are goodun’s that I’m meeting!

Kate and Sam had the open day to show us suppliers their wares, and to show potential clients.  The barn looked amazing, it was full of such wonderful stuff.  I honestly could have walked around there forever and found more fabulous vintage corners and detail rich areas to photograph.  I had to stop!

It’s been a real honour to be involved in a very small way with this.  I had such a nice time taking photos there, I’d love to go back an use all of Sam’s flowers, and all of Kate’s props and get a few brides in there, and anyone who’d let me take their photo to be honest, and do a lovely shoot!  I’m very inspired at the moment with photography.  Not so inspired with issues that arise when you try and be innovative and carve a path for yourself -I’m learning some people don’t like you to succeed too much – but that’s for another blog post!!

So thanks again to the wonderful Sam and Kate.  It was a joy to pop along and say hi, and I hope that some brides-to-be may see these pics, look at the websites, and feel a little inspiration for their big days.

Many big huggs folks xxx
