Blog / Intimate wedding at The Athenaeum, Bury St Edmunds
This intimate wedding at The Athenaeum, Bury St Edmunds was fabulous. A small number of family were invited to the wedding, a simple yet special day. I was booked for a few hours, to cover the ceremony and some informal portraits too. Also I was to capture all those little moments I love so much.
The Athenaeum it’s self is such a wonderful building, and a fabulous light room for a civil ceremony. Katherine and Brett chose to walk into the ceremony together, beaming from ear to ear all the way through. After the wedding, we all headed over to the wonderful Abbey Gardens. The couple were blessed with utterly stunning weather, perfect for a stroll around. I’ve photographed many times here, and always we find a new corner, a new moment, a new backdrop. The family were full of smiles and laughter as we did some relaxed family group shots, and found areas for informal couples portraits too. The ruins make an amazing backdrop for couples shots and are such great fun to look around too.
After we’d explored the gardens it was time for the family to head off for a bit of lunch, and my time was up. They were heading off to Centre Parcs for a family weekend, and to continue the celebrations further. A wonderful, relaxed and informal wedding day. Simple elegance, a joining of to families with a true honest connection. Such a special day to be a part of. Thanks for having me!
