Pretty Reid Rooms Wedding:
This pretty outdoor wedding at The Reid Rooms will forever be one of my faves. The venue, check. The Reid Rooms is such an amazing venue. The dress, check. The flowers, check. And the couple! Well, what a pair of absolute babes! I was thrilled when Jenna got in touch about photographing the wedding. We had met at a wedding fair about 3 years earlier. (Sorry if was less/more than that Jenna, I’m rubbish with remembering things!)
Wedding fairs are funny things for me. A great way to meet people, but sometimes, if you don’t get many immediate bookings, it can feel like a wasted opportunity. But then a lovely lady like Jenna comes along, and remembers me from all that time ago. And actually still wants to have me photograph the wedding! Well it makes it all seem super worth it! The pair of them are so lovely, and gorgeous I must say! They had recently moved to my home town so it was so nice to be able to pop round to see them before the big day for a chat. After the wedding, we discovered that Jenna worked with my sister. What a small world it can be!
Outdoor wedding at the Reid Rooms:
I photographed another wedding at the Reid Rooms last year, so I knew what a wonderful venue it was. So full of pretty elements and photo opportunities. Jenna and Joe hoped for an outdoor ceremony, and the British weather didn’t disappoint. Jenna got ready in the beautiful main house at The Reid Rooms. The bridal party were taken by tractor and trailer into the middle of a field, to join the guests and a very happy Joe! What a way to arrive! The ceremony takes place literally in the middle of a field. The bride and groom stand under a pretty gazebo and guests are seated on hay bales.
After the beaming couple were officially married, we took a stroll across the fields and toward the river for a short river boat ride. These two were so easy to photograph. I always keep in the background a little and let couples be in the moment, and these two were so happy that it radiates through the photos. No guidance needed!
All the guests were taken back to the venue on the tractor and trailer, and then it did another trip to collect myself and the happy couple. There are not many better ways to travel on your wedding day! Drinks, canapes and happiness were next on the agenda, and while we slipped in some relaxed and informal family group shots, everyone had a merry ol’ time. We had a quick dash inside to take a few cake photos, as it looked like it was going to topple over in the heat! But it survived, a beautiful naked cake, lovingly made by the bridesmaids mum. A few more relaxed couple shots of Jenna and Joe around the venue. A disused tennis court and patch of yellow flowers plus these two lovelies created some fabulous photographs for them to cherish.
More drinks, some funny speeches (including a marmite challenge for Jenna!) a delicious meal and fun evening reception topped off the day. Jenna had done lots of the details herself, hand writing all the place names and making numbered sparkly jars for the table numbers. Teamed with the beautiful yellow, pink and purple themed flowers, the whole place had a pretty and elegant feel. A paella in the evening to soak up any sloshing booze followed by dancing the night away to the fabulous band. But the best thing about the day, the happy couple, lovely guests and joy that was in abundance throughout the day. Thanks for having me guys! x
