Blog / Summer wedding photography at Longstowe Hall, Cambridge
While I’m on maternity leave I thought I’d share with you a beautiful summer wedding. A little reminder that we can have nice weather here, and hopefully the sunshine will be back with us soon!!
At the end of August, Richard and Maxine got married at the fabulous Longstowe Hall in Cambridge. I photographed the bridal preparations which took place at The Cambridge Belfry Hotel, before heading onto the gloriousness that is Longstowe Hall in Cambridge. I hadn’t shot at this venue before, in fact I hadn’t heard of it! Sometimes it really does astonish me at the amount of venues out there, I’m always very glad that I am not the one having to choose! Richard and Maxine live in London, but we’d managed to meet up a couple of times in Cambridge before the wedding and I had visited the venue too, so I was super excited about the day.
Maxine looked stunning in her beautiful dress, and as the guests arrived at Longstowe Hall in the late summer sunshine, and the chairs were set up for the beautiful island gazebo outdoor ceremony, I knew it was going to be a stunning day.
People who book me tend to not be too keen on having their photos taken (is anyone!?). They find me and tend to say that they like that my images seem relaxed and natural, and not staged at all. I pride myself on keeping out of the way, and even during the couples’ portraits I aim to not be in the couples’ faces and I just try and observe what’s happening while looking at the light and the backdrops but letting the moment happen as naturally as possible. This wedding was no exception, and I really did try and observe from a distance to help to keep things relaxed and to keep the wonderful couple happy and to help them to enjoy their day. Even if as the bride and groom you are the main attention of the day, having a camera shoved in your face won’t help the nerves one bit! I’m really pleased with the results from this stunning day, the location, the beautiful couple, the friendly and fun guests all made it a total joy for me, so thanks so much Richard and Maxine for having me with you on such a special day.
