Blog / Intimate Athenaeum wedding photography, Bury St Edmunds
Charlotte and Mark had a small, intimate weekday wedding at The Athenaeum in Bury St Edmunds. I love photographing here. It’s the register office for Bury St Edmunds, and it’s a stunning building in the heart of the historical town. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing lots of lovely small, intimate weddings here, and this one was a pure belter!
I met Charlotte at The Athenaeum, and she arrived with her Dad in a wonderful Kitty and Dulcie 50’s style wedding dress. Incredible Irregular Choice shoes topped her lovely retro look off. Charlotte and Mark laughed and smiles their way through the whole lovely ceremony. In fact, through the whole day! I was only with the wedding party for 3 hours, but boy did they pack in alot of smiles and fun.
We all headed over to the Abbey Gardens for some groups photos in the rose garden. En route, a bunch of students collared the couple to get a selfie with them! They had had a challenge to get a selfie with a stranger, and don’t think they could believe their luck to get a couple on their wedding day!
Some relaxed family shots were followed by a lovely walk round the gardens with the couple. They laughed so much that it made my job super easy. And resulted in some lovely, emotive images that I hope they will cherish.
A reception took place at the lovely Fox Inn in Bury St Edmunds. The small wedding party all met up there for food and drinks, and after cutting their lovely wedding cake, I headed off into the sunset! Such a joy filled day, and such a happy couple.
