Blog / Heath House 1898: a wedding fair
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of exhibiting at a gorgeous new venue just outside Colchester called Heath House 1898. It’s just getting up and running as a venue, and there will be glamping and beautiful woodlands in which to celebrate your special day. I definitely recommend looking into it if your on the look out for your venue, as they have lots of exciting things planned and I’m certain they’ll be getting booked up very quickly.
I enjoyed adding a few extras to my usual display this time. The table was covered in my Grandma’s beautiful table cloths, and her milk jug and jubilee cup were great for housing some pretty red and pink roses. I’ve also found some lovely new picture frames which I love (all the frames are from around my house, so the walls and shelves look bare on wedding fair weekends!) I also borrowed a lovely old suitcase from a local vintage shop called Vintage Love, a wonderful hidden away treasure trove which I love to browse around, although as it’s up stairs, I don’t get as much chance to look round as I’d like, as my little boy has to come up with me, so I’m always charging round after him, trying to stop him breaking things!
I added some of my old cameras too. I had to blow a fair amount of dust off of them, they haven’t seen the light of day for ages sadly. I wouldn’t know where to start with where to get film processed these days, so I think I’ll leave them as display items for now until that urge to shoot on film hits me next!
Sam from Violets and Velvet, an amazing florist based in north Essex, was on the stand next to me. We met back in September at another fair and she’s very lovely, and hugely talented of course! Her stand looked amazing, such a wonderful sense of style.
Along from us were Rachel from The Biscuit Jar and Laura from Love Little Cakes. They were exhibiting their wares together and are starting to offer delicious looking dessert tables for weddings and events. The products that were on display were beautiful and looked delicious. Amazing, delicate and quirky cakes and biscuits, who could ask for more! – I’ve just realised I didn’t get to try anything!! Next time ladies!
Also Julie from Bridal and Vintage hair was there, who was creating some stunning hairstyles yet again. Sadly I didn’t get around with my camera too much this time as it was so busy. I also met a lovely couple who run Tailor Made Invites, they were on the table behind me so we were kind of squashed together all day, but in a nice way! They were so lovely and very complimentary about my work. Their work looked fantastic and I’d certainly suggest popping over to their site to take a look.
So it was a great day all in all. Lots and lots of people came through, and I had lots of very positive comments which is always very nice. And meeting lovely suppliers is a wonderful bonus of these events too.
So, a huge thanks to the fabulous, amazing people I met at the wedding fair, suppliers and couples alike, and to those I didn’t even get round to chatting too as it was a busy day, I’m sorry and hope we meet again next time! Thanks all. Rebecca xx
