Blog / Elegant wedding at The Granary Barns, Suffolk
If you’re looking for a barn wedding, and you want to know how to do it with style, elegance, and a little bit of quirkiness, then look no further!
This stunning wedding was my first at the amazing Granary Barns near Newmarket in Suffolk. Suzie and Marc are such a gorgeous couple, so relaxed and fun. The day started at their beautiful new home in Clare, Suffolk, where Suzie got ready with her bridesmaids and family. Suzie took a quick trip into town to get her hair done at D:Fine and make up at Beautiful You.
After trying to get hold of her Dad to get picked up and taken back home – with bridal hair and make up on – the beautiful dress from Clare Bridal Studio was put on. It was smiles all round a few tears may have been shed when Suzie appeared in her beautiful lace dress. Suzie’s stunning flowers were by the very talented Heather Carpenter.
The Beautiful Barn:
We then headed over to the amazing Granary Barns, near Newmarket, Suffolk. Found in the village of Woodditton just outside Newmarket, it has classic flint walls on its approach. The original timber beams are on display throughout, and picturesque cornfields surround the grounds. The 18th century Granary Barn is the perfect setting for a relaxed and intimate wedding day. Marc was waiting patiently with his best men and groomsmen, before a very excited and happy Suzie arrived. The ceremony was beautiful and emotional, with lovely readings by friends and family.
The venue consists of two original barns linked by an open glass walkway with a stunning private courtyard in between. The ceremony was held in the gorgeous Flint Barn, followed by guests then heading into the courtyard where the relaxed drinks reception was held. I borrowed Suzie and Marc for a while to do some relaxed, informal couples portraits after we’d done a few group shots. The venue is so stunning, it really is hard to choose where to take photographs! So we took a walk by the lake, the vintage tractor, the beautiful old walls, the surrounding fields and even a hidden area with disused windows, bricks and roof tiles for a different look.
The Reception:
A table plan made up of vintage photo frames with old family wedding photos was such a lovely personal touch. A gorgeous meal was served by Crown Catering Cambridge , and all went swimmingly. Lots of fun and laughter during the speeches, and a beautiful simple cake topped the day off. The Serious Hat Band played in the evening and there was lots of dancing and fun! There was even an outdoor fire for toasting marshmallows on. It was a beautiful day, and I hope you’ll love the photos.
