Blog / Beautiful winter Bury St Edmunds wedding
If you want to know how to have a stunning, elegant and stylish winter wedding, then this is the place to look! This wedding in Bury St Edmunds was wonderful and full of love. A slightly damp and chilly February day didn’t dampen the spirits at all. It really is true that the weather will not ruin your day. People can get very hung up the weather for their wedding. I know I was obsessed with the forecast for weeks before our big day….it rained a bit, it was fine! But what I’ve realized after 8 years or so of capturing peoples wedding days, is that it really is the one thing that you can’t change. And it really doesn’t matter.
Rose’s family home in Nowton, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk was the base of the day. They had a beautiful marquee in the garden for the reception, and a short drive up the hill to the beautiful Nowton Church for the ceremony. The church had a beautiful flower arch at the entrance which set the scene gorgeously.
Reception drinks were held in the family home while a jazz band played in the hall way. Canapes were provided by caterers Heathcote and Hare followed by the wedding breakfast in the marquee. There were simple, elegant decorations on the long tables for a meal of sharing platters or delicious meats and salads. The flowers by Tollys of Newmarket consisted of pretty pink and peach bunches in glass vases, hessian details and place names written directly in gold onto green leaves.
Lots of love and laughter ensued, and after fabulous emotional speeches, the band played again for the first dance. A family friend sang with the band for a special song and this was followed by everyone dancing the night away. It was everything a wedding should be, it was about love, family and friends. I’m so glad I got to be a part of it. Hope you enjoy the photographs. R
