Blog / Fab 50’s wedding at Sturmer Hall Suffolk/Essex
Well hello again! I just wanted to do a proper blog post of a fabulous wedding I photographed back in August. Nikki and Sean got married at St Felix Church in Haverhill, and then onto Sturmer Hall on the very edges of Suffolk and Essex for the lovely reception.
Nikki and Sean contacted me after finding me in a rather unusual way. Sean kicked the laptop, and up my website popped! Makes me wonder why I do all this marketing, just kick the computer and find me there! I am absolutely grateful that they did find me, as they are just such a lovely, fun, joyful couple. I couldn’t wait for the wedding day, and when Nikki told me that there was a fifties theme, a baby blue cadillac and two, yes, two dresses, I know it would be a good one! Which it was.
We started the day at the beautiful Sturmer Hall. the bridal suite has wonderful light, and Nikki is such good fun that it was pure joy to be there to photograph the preparations.
There were the fabulous, polkadot bridesmaid dresses, and the amazing selection of shoes for me to drool over. Nikki’s two dresses were a world apart from each other, but both stunning and a real reflection of her and how she wanted the day to go. Beautiful, grand, glamorous for the first dress, and the second dress was quirky, fun and perfect for dancing!
The church had been newly built and was so beautiful and full of light. It was a joy to photograph there and to witness the wedding. And the rain as we all exited the church didn’t spoil the fun. The roof was swiftly put up on the Cadillac and we all ran to our cars! It poured down during the drive over to Sturmer Hall, but then stopped and the sun shone again. Our summer has been crazy!
I had lots of fun with the bridesmaids and their amazing dresses and shoes, and i really enjoyed finding slightly quirky, alternative areas for Nikki and Sean’s portrait shots. The outfits and their personalities really made for some lovely pictures.
As always Sturmer Hall came up trumps with the fab revelation of the first dance, you just can’t beat a black and white dance floor, and the curtain coming up to unsuspecting wedding guests as a gasp goes round as the see the bride and groom. And the new frock was a bonus surprise too!
Fab dancing ensued, lovely evening guests arrived, and the weather held out. A perfect day for a super couple. Congratulations guys! Cant wait to get your album sorted out for you very soon.
