Blog / St Marys Church + The Athenaeum wedding photography | Bury St Edmunds
Zoe and Bruce got married at the incredible St Mary’s Church in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. It is one of the largest parish churches in England, and is said to have the second longest aisle, and the largest West Window of any parish church in the country. It certainly created a stunning backdrop for their wedding photography.
I’d not met Zoe and Bruce before, but from our communications I knew we’d get on well and their day would be wonderful. I met the wedding party at the church, capturing images of guests arriving. Then the bridesmaids, mother of the bride and then finally Zoe herself. It was a stunning day in March, glorious sunshine and blue skies. After the ceremony everybody walked into the beautiful Abbey Gardens for a drinks reception and some photographs.
As always it’s a joy to do fun and relaxed couples portraits in and around the Abbey Gardens and the stunning Abbey Gate entrance. The beautiful golden sunlight helped us, and although it was a little cold we god some lovely photographs. We headed back up to The Athenaeum while taking in a few of the pretty back streets on the way.
The Athenaeum looked stunning as ever in the main ball room, and the guests enjoyed a drinks reception before dinner. See if you can spot mini batman! After the speeches he got the party started and captivated everyone – such a cutie!
Thanks for having me with you guys. A real honor to be part of your big day.
