Blog / A relaxed Pledgdon Barn wedding | Francesca + Nino
Francesca and Nino had a relaxed Pledgdon Barn wedding. On the Essex and Heartfordshire borders, Pledgdon Barn is an ancient and historic Tudor barn. Beautiful beams and pretty outside space mean it’s stunning for relaxed and informal weddings.
Nino had contacted me at the very end of 2017 to book me for their summer 2018 wedding. We’d chatted on the phone a few times before he and Fran booked me in. I didn’t know the venue, but I was so excited to be a part of their beautiful, relaxed wedding day. With a large Italian family on Nino’s side, I knew there would be a great atmosphere!
I started at Frans family home in Bishops Stortford, where a relaxed bride-to-be was quietly and calmly getting ready. Weddings evoke a multitude of emotions. This was no exception. When Francesca’s Dad saw her for the first time, my photographer self took some photos of course, but then I knew that they needed a moment alone. I am a firm believer in judging the moment. I’m am not pushy or bolshy. I know that getting the image, catching the moment is top of my priority list. But sometimes, private moments are required. This was one of them. All the love, all the emotion.
Church wedding in Bishops Stortford
The wedding ceremony was at the beautiful St Michaels Church in Bishops Stortford. Nino and Fran had a wonderful and emotional wedding ceremony. Afterwards, they came out of the church to be greeted by cheers and applause from the many guests. The wind blowing the confetti and Fran’s veil around creating a wonderful magical feel to greet them as newly weds. We had a wander around the back to capture some simple relaxed couples portraits before the couple headed off to Pledgdon Barn in a fab VW camper van.
Barn wedding reception
On arrival at Pledgdon Barn on the Essex and Hertfordshire borders, drinks and canapes were served on the terrace, over looking the pretty green. The happy couple arrived in their camper van, and I took a few relaxed photos of them with the van. Then they mingled and chatted as guests arrived (after they’d got lost in a few cases! But all was well int eh end!) I ventured into the Tudor barn and took some photographs of the stunning table decorations. A flurry of pretty pinks, whites and greens gave a fresh, sophisticated feel to the barn. After the lovely meal and trio of desserts, the wonderful speeches took place. An emotional and funny father of the bride, a joyous groom and wonderful best man giving speeches in Italian and then English – via google translate!
The wonderful Timeless wedding company set up in the barn for the evening reception. More guests arrived and then the cutting of the beautiful wedding cake followed by the first dance. The day was a real celebration of family, friends and love. People stormed the dance floor and had a great time dancing the night away. Grandad and nieces, cousins and friends all having a whale of a time. This was a stunning, relaxed pretty wedding was a pleasure to be a part of. It’s always such an honor to be a part of such a special day.
